What To Expect When Having Invisalign®

Your Invisalign journey, straighten your teeth in 4 simple steps. If you have any specific questions about Invisalign® or would like to book in for a free consultation please contact us today.

Step 1

Attend Your Free Consultation

The first step of the Invisalign journey is to come and see us for a free no obligation Invisalign® Smile Assessment so we can explore the suitable options with you.

Using our cutting-edge Itero 3D imaging scanner we will show you what your teeth could look like if you went ahead with Invisalign®.

You will be given a bespoke treatment plan with an estimated time for treatment and associated costs, and you will have access to your digital scan to decide if you would like to proceed with Invisalign®.

Step 2

Invisalign Treatment Start

After the free consultation, the next step of the Invisalign journey is to book in for a full clinical examination to confirm your suitability for treatment. For example a full check up or hygiene visit may be recommended before you can start to have your teeth straightened depending on your oral health.

We will take clinical photographs of your teeth and a more comprehensive 3D scan may be required, which is then submitted to Invisalign® (so they can manufacture your personalised clear aligners).

These will usually be returned to us within 1-2 weeks for you to collect your Invisalign® trays and for you to begin your journey to straight teeth.

Step 2

Step 3

Invisalign Aligner Collection and Fitting

The exciting step of the Invisalign journey has arrived! Your custom made Invisalign® aligners are ready for you to collect. We will arrange an appointment to show you how to fit them, how long to wear each day (usually only to remove for eating/drinking/oral hygiene routine), and everything you will need to know about your custom teeth straightening journey.

You will be given a series of aligners to wear (1 after the other), and at your regular interval appointments (every 6-8 weeks) you will be given your new series of aligners to wear. This will continue throughout treatment until you reach your final aligner, and have your final review appointment (to do the final checks of your teeth & reiterate the importance of the retainer).

At every step of your journey, you can always reach out to our friendly team who are on hand to answer any questions you may have.

FAQs on Invisalign

Clear aligners from Invisalign are a practically invisible approach to straighten your teeth and get the smile you’ve always wanted. We can plan the entire invisalign treatment based on your dentist’s prescription, from the starting position of your teeth to the final ideal position, using powerful 3D computer imaging technology.

We will then create a sequence of invisalign clear aligners that are custom-made for your teeth – and only your teeth – to gradually reposition them.

Each aligner is worn for 1-2 weeks before being replaced with the next in the sequence, progressively bringing the teeth closer to their final position. Your dentist will calculate the length of your invisalign treatment depending on your unique needs.

The clear aligners from Invisalign are practically undetectable. Few people will even know you’re wearing these nearly invisible aligners, making Invisalign therapy a natural fit for your lifestyle and daily activities. Because Invisalign transparent aligners are removable, you can eat and drink whatever you want during treatment.

You can also take out the aligners to brush and floss normally to maintain proper dental hygiene and fresh breath. There are no metal brackets or wires, unlike typical fixed dental braces. This means that you’ll spend less time visiting the dentist for adjustments in most circumstances.

Advanced 3D computer imaging technology allows you to preview your virtual outcomes and receive a thorough treatment plan so you can visualize how your teeth will look after treatment.

Invisalign clear aligners are clear aligners that move teeth by putting controlled movement in the right places. Invisalign treatment, unlike traditional braces, controls not only the amount of movement each aligner, but also the timing of the movement. As a result, only certain teeth are allowed to move at each step, according to the treatment plan for that stage.

As a result, an effective force delivery system is created, which moves teeth into the proper position.

The virtually invisible Invisalign transparent aligners are composed of a sturdy medical-grade thermoplastic material that was specifically created for the Invisalign treatment system. The aligners are created to fit over your teeth and are custom-made for you.

One of the main benefits with Invisalign is that you won’t have to come in to see the dentist as often as you would with traditional braces. Typically it will be every 6-8 weeks for a review appointment and the appointment will be substantially shorter (as there will be no wires/brackets to be adjusted). The appointment will be to check the progress of the teeth and to collect the next series of aligners. Your treating dentist will advise you on how often they would like to see you as the treatment is bespoke to your needs.

The entire treatment time is determined on your individual needs and how complex your case is. Treatment times usually last anywhere between 3 to 18 months (and will be confirmed after the clin-check stage). At the free consultation your dentist will be able to give you an idea on how long you will be in treatment for.

When a new Invisalign aligner is inserted, some people may experience transient, slight discomfort for a few days at the start of each new stage of treatment. This is quite natural and is commonly described as a pressing sensation. It’s a sign that the aligners are doing their job, gradually shifting your teeth and assisting you in achieving your desired results. This discomfort typically goes away in a few days.

With Invisalign transparent aligners, gaps between teeth are usually straightforward to close. Your Invisalign dentist can assess if Invisalign treatment is right for you and if it will fill any gaps in your teeth. You’ll be able to view how your new smile will look following treatment with your Invisalign Smile Visualisation.
The temporomandibular (jaw) point is referred to as TMJ. TMJ sufferers may have a variety of jaw joint issues, some of which can be increased by appliances and treatments like Invisalign clear aligners, and others that can improve, stay the same, or even worsen the condition. Please schedule an appointment with your Invisalign dentist to see if your TMJ issue will affect your treatment.
Like other teeth straightening treatments the cost of Invisalign is determined by the complexity of your case (and how long treatment is predicted to take).

With Invisalign you will have a 3D digital scan at the beginning which will determine the movements required to straighten your teeth and subsequently how many aligners will be required to achieve this. Each aligner is roughly worn for 1-2 weeks before moving onto the next one.

Invisalign is broken up into 3 main categories:

  • Invisalign Express (7 aligners both top and bottom) – £1,175.00
  • Invisalign Lite (14 aligners both top & bottom) – £2,975.00
  • Invisalign Full (unlimited aligners both top & bottom) – £3,575.00

Your dentist will be able to assess your teeth and inform you which category of Invisalign you will fall into.
